An Overview of The Muse Storytelling Process from top to bottom
In this tutorial, Grant and Patrick discuss the importance of emotional connection in storytelling and how it impacts decision-making. They introduce the Muse Process for designing a story that guides the heart to move the mind, focusing on four pillars: People, Places, Plot, and Purpose.
They then outline a four-step approach to storyfinding and crafting, including clarifying objectives, choosing characters, and bringing it together through plot and places.
The following two modules will explain the three Muse Milestones:
Clarifying your objective: Define a tangible goal for your story. What action do we want viewers to take (donating money, signing up for an email list, buying a product, etc.)?
Choose your characters: If we want to guide the heart to move the mind, we need to choose strong characters that viewers connect to.
Bringing them all together: The objective and characters will come together in a storyboard with the plot and the places.
KEY TAKEAWAYS:
Emotional connection is key in storytelling, as it impacts decision-making.
Designing a story with a clear objective and strong characters can guide the heart to move the mind and drive action.
The Four Pillars of Story -People, Places, Plot, and Purpose - all impact the audience uniquely and must come together to tell a compelling narrative.
The four-step story crafting process includes Storyfinding, clarifying objectives, choosing characters, and bringing it all together through plot and places.
Each step in the process should be approached intentionally, focusing on emotional connection and driving action.
The goal is to have clarity and confidence in the story being told and the ability to defend and explain each decision made in the creative development process.
